I see definite gains in benchmarks with quad 690s when running 3.0 vs 2.0. 6 cores absolutely help on the 3930 k .
I have not compared any game benchmarks, primarily because I don't game as often as I would like to...lol..but it certainly won't hurt.
Just be very careful with kboost, when running 3.0. It messes up 3.0, or may be its the other way around. There is very specific protocol to enabling an disabling kboost,. Just make sure that 3.0 is uninstalled when toggling kboost on or off, you can reinstall 3.0 once done with kboost. I only use kboost for benchmarks anyway.
Ofcourse, this only applies to x79 boards. If you get an ivy board, you will have native 3.0 enabled, however, you won't have the 6 cores of sb-e , obviously.Edited by maximus56 - 3/22/13 at 2:36pm
