I used to have a 120Hz monitor a couple of years ago, like back when the 560Ti had just come out. I do remember it was butter smooth. But it was that 1st gen 3D monitor from Acer with the orange base....can't remember the model for the life of me now. Anyway, besides the smoothness, overall I didn't really like the monitor so I got rid of it.
What monitor did you get?

I bought a samsung SA23700D from an ocn member (thanks surfbumb!) on the marketplace

it really is amazing

even playing crysis 3 where I'm closer to 80-90fps average it's great.

Owning a 27 inch monitor currently though....so would want to transition into a 27 inch 120Hz.

Work/general use hooked up to the 1440p monitor.

Gaming rig w/ 690 hooked up to the 1080p 120Hz monitor.

LOL

Or just get the right catleap bin and you can OC those to 128hz. Then you get 1440p + high refresh. Mine will only do about 90hz, but many go far beyond that.

I have had this happen on tons of cases, I assure you the PCI slot will be just fine with a couple degrees of what appears to be misalignment. It should be fine.

I dunno. I've tried applying some force to moving the card up to where it would align correctly and it's not budging much. I'm afraid any more pressure will end up destroying the slot or damage the card itself. Ugh, this sucks. Might simply need to upgrade my mobo / case.

The spacing is fine from a vertical point of view, like Masta said you just have to push the card up a fraction. But it looks like it is not all the way to the left of the case. That is why I thought maybe the two metal flanges that slide down there were pushing it to the right or something like that.

Well I moved away from the 7970 because I was frustrated by how the card performed in a lot of games. As it turns out the 690 exhibits the same problems in those games, so it's not a card or driver issue. I've done my due diligence in terms of troubleshooting the problems, but nothing has really worked. Obviously you don't upgrade from the 7970 to the 690 because of driver concerns alone - I wanted a card that could run all of the new next gen games without having to sacrifice graphics for higher frames. I just figured it would also fix some of the problems I was having on account of moving to Nvidia drivers.

I've been busy this week so I haven't been able to extensively test the 690 in all of my games but I'm still getting horrible frame drops and slowdowns in Crysis 3 even on Medium settings. Metro 2033 skips and lags all over the place as it did before with my 7970. Bioshock Infinite performed a bit better I suppose in terms of less framedrops when the action got intense, but it was still there. GTA4 and Batman AC still run like hot garbage, as does New Vegas. Skyrim is pretty hit or miss. Far Cry 3, Max Payne 3, Tomb Raider, and Borderlands 2 run great though.

I guess I'm a bit disappointed in my PC gaming experience thus far. As a console player coming over to PC I was blown away by the graphics and smoothness of PC gaming, but the stuttering and stability issues I've experienced are a huge turn off, especially considering a lot of these games have been out for over a year and shouldn't have any problems running on a system as powerful as mine.

To buy and sell, and buy and sell, and maybe even buy and sell some more trying to hit the right one would just be a big pain. My Crossover won't take the slightest bit of overclock. But oh well.....I just like switching things up so if the 1080p 120Hz doesn't last with me very long it's no big deal.

Would love a 120hz monitor, never really had a problem with 60hz until i turned v-sync off in D3.

MY GOD THE TEARING.

hey guys just a quick question here:

can anyone of you who owns 690 run the new evga oc scanner properly ?

all i can see when I start it is few buttons with no background and frame. realy strange becouse my system is up to date and there shouldn't be any problem.

thank you
