One huge kudos to the 690 is the 'frame metering' that was implemented on a hardware level. IMO it handles like a single GPU because I don't see the micro-stutter while gaming that I was expecting from a dual GPU. smile.gif

Yeah when I had a 590, I never experienced microstuttering as well. I love dual core GPUs

The last dual GPU card I owned was a 295....world of difference with the 690. As you said, kudos to the way the frame metering works, really does feel like I'm gaming on a single super powerful GPU.

Will be a great card if it works out. A niche of consumers it could fill gap for. Makes you wonder if they are going to drop the 780 prices and if the 790 be priced x2 accordingly rather than cost more.

EDIT TO ADD: i'm going to be hanging on to my 690 at least another two years as I am handing it down to my second rig this month. Glad I purchased the extra EVGA insurance which will have me protected under warranty for total of five years. It's been his best GPU purchase I've ever made when all said and done. Had it since day one launch. thumb.gif

I'm with you on this, I plan on keeping my 690 for awhile and also purchased the extended warranty from evga! biggrin.gif

Yep, I get about the same, really depends if there is a lot going on though. On conquest after the building falls, at the "C" flag it seem to be the worst, dipping to low 60s, but still nice and smooth thumb.gif I love my 690 wubsmiley.gif

Hi guys

Can anyone tell me if a new cpu for my gtx 690 will be much help in BF4 etc? Right now I have an I7-960 not overclocked and I don't plan to do it again because I had some problems. I play in 1440p and I think my cpu is bottlenecking my card. What do you think? And do you have any recommendation as to what cpu I should get?

Thanks

Well what is your budget?

I own a 3570k and it works great. Easy to OC to 4.2 and no bottlenecking whatsoever.

3770k

4770k

3930k

4930k are all perfect CPUs for you.

If you are willing to spend a bit, grab a 3930k or a 4930k. Better for future games perhaps.

I was also thinking about the 3770k or maybe an i5. But will I feel the difference? Or is it still the card that slows the game down?

Thanks

You need to check what is CPU "doing" while gaming?! As I remember correctly, my 3770K @4.8Ghz is loaded around 50-70% on Ultra (1080).
And sure, take a look at FPS you got?
Oh and update Nvidia drivers to the latest beta (improving it for BF4) that will come out with BF4 release.

Okay ppl this is the deal, im planing a new mAtx build. I have a Asus GTX 690 that im pretty happy with, runs pretty much everything with sensible frams and settings. i know it sounds pretty crazy but i want 2 card in this build, both for prefomence but mostly for looks smile.gif Should i sell my GTX 690 and buy 2 other cards or add one more Q-SLi ?

Pros/Cons ?

Withs other cards ?
