I think My graphics card died?

Ok this is on a fairly old computer. but it has all my stuff on it and this laptop isnt mine so im looking for a temp fix. its a Emachine T3062
Runs windows XP
has a nvidia g-force 4 - I think. Its old. I know.
but when I turn it on nothing displays on the screen. stays black and my monitor just blinks away like its stuck, so I plugged it into my tv. and I got the Bios to come up. and I tried a couple things. and it didnt help. but I got the windows logo to appear for about 3 seconds then it goes "no signal"

Im unsure of why, and I had been using it just fine right before. I took it outside and blew it out with a air compressor.. thats it..

any ideas?

Yeah it does Sounds like the GPU.ect is failing, i would take out the HDD & put it in a "USB 2.5 external HDD enclosure" so you can try to copy the data you need from it to another PC "if available", or plug it directly in a desktop PC's mobo & do the same.

Sorry to hear that & especialy because it's not your laptop, it might be hard explaning to the person who owns it that there hardware is failing, while it was in your possession.

Arrr OK, i understand, then if you dont have a desktop spare, to transfer the data you need, i would wait till you have some spare cash for a "USB external HDD enclosure" = there cheap like $15-30 depending on what brand & where you get it from + it will come in handy for future referance.

if the card is dead then the only fix is to buy a new one, which if youre broke then youre still in the same boat. lol

on the bright side, thats an AGP card right? those are probably pretty cheap at this point. local PC shop might have something kicking around for a few bucks from an old system someone abandoned.

Yeah, i undertand, but from what your explaining, you wouldn't even be able to try to do a system restore or reinstall windows, & because it's a laptop it will need to be taken to a proper repair store.
