GTX690 and 2500k? will they play nicely?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about grabbing one, seeing how it would be about 12 days of work (long summer for uni student ftw), altough my job isnt very secure so not sure when I will have enough.
Anyway, I wanna know that it won't be held back by the 2500k right? I plan to OC to at least 4.3 when I get an H70, right now its on air at stock speed.

You will be absolutely fine with a 2500K. If you wanted two then you may be limited by the PCI-e, but with just one card, that 2500K is about the best CPU you could pair it with for gaming.

2500k would be plenty for that. Unless you're streaming alongside your games, there's no real need for an i7.

Yeah you will be fine with a 2500K, it should push them nicely even at stock speeds. thumb.gif

Like Direk said, if you plan to get more than one card you will more than likely be PCI-E limited due to the bandwidth of PCI-E 2.0 and LGA 1155 only having a total of 16 total PCI-E lanes.. so you'd be running two 690's at 8x/8x on PCI-E 2.0 and that wouldn't end as well as it could.

hmm that's cool. Although now i wanted to upgrade my monitor to one of those Samsung led series 9 27" for 600$, and my budget was 1K$ and ill have to get a 670 Ti or something now, if I get monitor.
Ill start another thread with a poll to see what people would do. My current monitor is fine but nothing fancy beyond that, only issue i have with it its small for me (23"). I know that's standard for a lot of people but I find it tight when I game for some reason
