sorry but im a bit of a noob with all this. i currently have a NVIDIA GTS 450 and my computer screen starts to tear up while playing high end games. i think its maybe due to overheating and im not sure what to do about it.

idle state:

my power supply is a 850W thermaltake toughpower

i previously had a HD RADEON 5670 and it couldnt handle simple games like warcraft 3. now i am able to handle wc3 with my new card but can't handle high end games frown.gif please help!

thanks

Tear up as in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_tearing ? If so it's just because your FPS is too high for your monitor and nothing is broken or overheating. From what you've posted your card isn't overheating. They can stand like 90c+ and yours is only hitting 40c

thank you for replying.

My Vsync is on while i play Dota 2 and the problem still occurs.

No, my screens goes all black whilst playing and different colours appear and are scattered over the screen and then it kicks me out of the game. I can't find a pic of it sorry. It seems as if my card is getting slowly destroyed because when i play wc3 again sometimes the computer freezes up for a couple of seconds and some fps lag occurs

So it happens when playing WC3 and not while playing a newer game correct? If so are you using Win7? And does it look like this (in terms of those colors) http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&biw=1600&bih=785&tbm=isch&tbnid=DvX_f8SqiW69TM:&imgrefurl=http://mytechknowledge.com/uncategorized/the-easiest-way-to-fix-diablo-2-graphic-problem-in-windows-7/&docid=R5cwPmjSiXuXAM&imgurl=http://mytechknowledge.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/8-3-2010-12-42-58-AM.png&w=532&h=397&ei=1WydT4-yIOnOiAKj9uhN&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=359&vpy=153&dur=2552&hovh=194&hovw=260&tx=112&ty=80&sig=111276760624509400060&page=1&tbnh=141&tbnw=188&start=0&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:72

Nah wc3 is fine now but on highend games it stuffs up. in terms of colours that does happen but instead of the proper background colour it would be a black screen with those distorted colours. During Dota 2 the game will stop for a second and play the same sound more than once, sorta like a stutter. screen sometimes goes black and on again.

My screen sometimes appears like this aswell midgame.
