They already do. It's called a sales tax. Quite common eh.

Well right, sorry, let me rephrase that. If a company's main headquarters is in a taxable state (California) they should be taxed for all sources of income in all other locations regardless of them being taxed or not, as the "seller" is situated within a taxable state. All Apple is doing over in Nevada is investing their profits into what I assume are banks and whatnot, which they're not taxed for in that state.

When you look at how apple does this, it is actually very smart. Sounds shady but it is smart business. Although it also goes to show how broken our tax system is.

Singling apple out here is mostly just for hits since all corporations do this. Banks, insurance, aerospace, arms, oil, pharmaceutical, prison–industrial complex, ect ect. I don't doubt that IBM and Intel, and Nvidia, and AMD, and pretty much every corporation in america takes advantage of every tax loophole they've used their bought politicians to put in place.

Your politicians are all bought and owned by the rich and by corporations... I thought you were all aware of this? You certainly haven't done anything about the situation to change it, so I figured ya'll must not care that you don't really live in a democracy.

... kinda hard not talking about politics with a news thread like this that's rooted in politics.

Why not place headquarters with little to no tax? Its a legitimate strategy for both businesses and governments!

I would like to see you set up shop and pay $100 taxes a week when you could set up shop 1 block away with no tax.

Therefor only feeding the Apple haters on this forum. This is what I mean in every Apple thread that I've posted of late. The stuff Apple is doing is really not all that different than the rest of the worlds large corporations. But the only articles to get posted here, are the ones of Apple. Which just feeds the trolls and haters.

Thread Starter
Just throwing this out there, I'm not posting this article as a "Another reason to hate Apple" thread. I'm just posting this because 1. It's news, and 2. it's relative to the Tech Sector.
It's a legit business move, and if anyone else read my next post they would read where I threw GE under the bus too.

Tax code = broked. (sic)

What I'm laughing at is all the QQ'ing in favor for this behavior when I pay my fair share in taxes... they should too! I would like a tax holiday... I would like for them to bail me out if I got into severe financial failure due to my mismanagement of funds... I would like to be given BILLIONS in Tax Benefits... Do we the people get it? No. And I know life's not fair, but why are we carrying big business, when they should be able to carry themselves? They are pulling in billion dollar PROFITS. It's not like they are suffering any. They QQ about Taxes and Labor Laws and say "It's going to hurt us" when it doesn't in the least. I don't buy into their crap that it's going to be the end of their organization. It wouldn't kill Apple, GE, and all the others to pay their fair share... and while this is LEGAL, the practice should be made Illegal.

No more handouts. No more Tax holidays. No more Bailouts. No more ANYTHING.

The mere second I don't pay a single dollar on my taxes I have my wages garnished or worse. It's high time the same crap happens to them too. If everyone paid what they were supposed to in the first place... I don't think we'd be in this bad of an economic slump.

Don't buy into their crocodile tears "OH TAXES HURT US"... pfft yeah paying my fair share hurts me too. Also you are a fool if you honestly believe lowering their rates would actually encourage them to pay taxes when they can get away with not paying taxes.....

In addition It is really easy to not bring politics into this because the proverbial blame game always gets played. Keep the blame out of this and discuss the topic at hand. thumb.gif Look 5 pages of discussion and not a single political comment. It's going pretty good so far...

Hey if Microsoft was hitting the top news stories I'd be posting about them too. thumb.gif I'm not trying to feed the haters and trolls. Apple does a pretty good job of that themselves...
