Overclocking help

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
well just overclocked my 955 at 3.8... i just pushed the multipliers up tongue.gif . At the moment i have prime95 open and its at "in-place " torture settings and it been running for about 30 mins and its already on 52-53C, how is it going to last for another hours LOL should i just stop the test and put it back to normal ( 3.2)

core voltage 1.4
bus = 200
ht link = 2000

Just keep it going while monitoring temps closely. Temps usually stabilize after 30-60 mins anyway.

And if you crash or briefly go over the thermal limit it's not the end of the world. Just don't do it 20 times over.

I would just let it go if I were you. 52-53 is a fine temperature for that chip. Just keep your eye on it and make sure that it doesn't creep up above 62C or so. For example, my 965 at 4.0 and 1.45v climbs to 55C in the first 30 minutes to hour and then never goes above that which makes me comfortable running it 24/7 at those settings (on water of course).

or as high as it will go without going over 1.375 cpu-nb devil.gif
you will likely hit a wall long before you hit that voltage though
so tune it back to the lowest stable voltage.
