So after buying this $7 mouse off ebay...

I'm never going back to that $25 microsoft crap they call a "mouse". After using this new mouse for a week, I decided to temporarily use the microsoft mouse to see if there was any difference besides the cheaper price. The microsoft mouse felt like it weighed a ton, it was VERY hard to click, and I felt like I had to move my mouse like an entire meter before I moved the cursor from one end of the screen to another end even at high sensitivity (400 DPI).

I'm afraid to try out a $40+ mouse, because if I try a real mouse, I'm afraid I'll have to replace all the mice in my house with that model (ouch! my wallet!).

You mean high windows sensitivity or you mean that 400 dpi is alot?
I can ensure you that whatever mouse you get after a regular oem mouse is going to be better than what you had. smile.gif
How is the build quality on that thing, because I have always wondered about these ebay mice, they look cool, but I want to know if that's all it is to them.

I wonder what microsoft mouse you had before, because the mouse you bought is listed as 103g, which is more than most microsoft mice (well, more than WMO, IME 3.0, IO 1.1)

I was using the WMO. The ebay mouse does feel lighter than the WMO. I think it weighs like ~80g.

I'm not sure how to measure build quality, since I've never used a real mouse. The buttons on this mouse feel great. Both the left and right click are very quick and are perfect for the shape of my fingers. The crappy windows mouse feels so mushy in comparison. I also used to put so much effort into my clicks with the WMO compared to this ebay mouse. The scroller on the ebay does feel better too; once again, I feel like I have to put less effort to scroll up and down. The side up and down buttons also feel great.

I don't think I like the positioning of the double click button. It feels very awkward to make my hand reach the button, but I don't use it, so it doesn't really matter to me. The DPI button is also kind of weirdly placed. I don't think you'll be able to switch DPI while gaming, because you'll have to move your hand. I don't switch DPI while gaming, so again, it doesn't matter to me.

I don't think that mouse test is very accurate. I tried it on my WMO, and it gave the mouse 2% precision.

This WMO mice seem to have a built-in timer. After 1 year of use, they just randomly die. I went through two crappy WMO mice (left click stopped working on first; right click stopped working on second), until I decided to buy a mouse off ebay.

personally i've made my way through many wmo's, and none of them failed by it self after a year. all of them broke after a massive user input, e.g. throwing it against a wall.

could u test the mouse at the lowest possible dpi setting?

By the way, a bit off-topic, but does using a mousepad matter? I've been using this mouse on a desk. Would I get improved accuracy/precision with a mousepad?
