Phenom II B55 Overclocking

Thread Starter
This week my new cooler arrived so i'm kinda excited to see how much i can push this chip, but being a novice i need your advice.
I read that cpu-nb frequency and volts sometimes helps stabilize higher cpu frequency, so if this is the case i guess i should first find a stable nb overclock before touching the cpu.

1) How do i test nb? I was thinking of doing 30min Prime95 custom 512K FFT with 2000MB Memory (too much/low? i have 4GB) tests (using only multiplier with everything else at stock settings) until i see errors and then keep doing same test until i reach a stable 2,6-2,8 GHz frequency with max 1,3v, and finally doing a full over night test. Should my final test still be custom 512K FFT or better using the preset Blend settings?

2) At the moment i've done simple LinX 5 runs test to see how much i could push the cpu, like cpu-nb tests using only multiplier and everything else stock settings. I reached x19,5 with 1,504-1,512 vcore at full load (cpu-z reading, don't remember which one of the two, bios setting was 1,4750v) and temperatures around low 50°. How should i stress test and call it stable, Prime95 Small FFT, custom in-place 8 FFT or Blend?

If nb overclock is done first how should i find cpu stable oc? With nb at stock or oc settings? If with nb already oc, which Prime95 settings?
Sorry for all this questions but i've been reading a lot of guides and everyone seems to have a different opinion so i'm not so sure, and being this my first overclock (and only pc) i don't want to go random.

Thank you biggrin.gif

The best help anyone can give you on here is to tell you to read this thread from top to bottom:

make sure you fully comprehend all of it and report back here if you have further questions thumb.gif

I read el_gappo guide and think i understand his method but he uses the FSB more than multiplier and at the moment i'm not touching it (still didn't read enough about ram overclock for me to try it). I'm just using multiplier to push the cpu, get a stable overclock (and gain some needed fps biggrin.gif) and then with more time get to know about fsb/ram to try squeeze more.
I just read somewhere that sometimes (example here) a 3,9GHz 1,5v oc is unstable with nb at 2GHz but can became stable with a nb at 2,6GHz. Is this true?
