K&L2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Metro 2033, Portal 2, and Black ops are some of my recent favorites when it comes to story.

You were playing the wrong RPG's. I'd also like to say that if you've only been playing them for the last decade or so, then you didn't even get a chance at playing anything good unless you dug up some of the good modded versions that were made during the period. Fallout 1 and 2 are alright, Wasteland was pretty good, these are all over a decade old.Other developers on PC? Psychonauts was fair, there were a couple good Heroes of Might and Magic games early on. A couple good Ultima games too. Deus Ex. Pretty sure all of these are over a decade old. I hate that I have to say that. I hate that I can look back over the last 10 years and find absolutely nothing memorable in the RPG category.

Maybe I'm spoiled, because when I really get a craving for a good story, I just go renew my account with Gemstone IV and get involved with current events, or make my own story. Or Dragonrealms (nothing to do with the books or WOTC.)

I liked Final Fantasy 2, but I was about 12 years-old and that was my first RPG ever. Since then I've noticed most games still follow that main plot; find the magic stones before the villain does, or protect the magic girl so the villain doesn't kidnap her. People just eat this up like they're still 12.

And Diablo III is garbage. frown.gif

You might want to try playing Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga. Some people seem to not like it much but I found it to be rather good after playing it for awhile. Been wanting to try the first game but have not had the time.

kingdom of amalor is sweet, neverwinter knights is slightly dated but still completely awesome and epic, and there is always more open world styled games like the infamous games and deus ex HR (which are more action rpg, than traditional RPG but good never the less)

skyrim, fallout, ect are good but will have been mentioned to death already so i mention them only in passing here...lol:D
