First Gaming PC! Some quick questions.

Thread Starter
I'm making my first homemade rig (in signature) and all I have left to order is my hard drive and SSD.

First of all, is the set up good for gaming?

Secondly, am I going to need to overclock this to run new games, such as The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Battlefield, to run smoothly. If not, would you guys still recommend it?

Any additional thoughts would be much appreciated.

You should be fine. A better or a second gpu may be in order though.

You don't have to necessarily overclock right off the bat, only games that are more CPU intensive you will notice the difference. Other games will solely rely on how fast your GPU is. Overclocking CPU/RAM etc.. does help a little bit with gaining more fps in games. As for load times those will be dependent on how fast your hard drive is with of course getting an SSD you will notice the difference but raiding HDDs aren't bad either. Sandy/Ivy bridge are easy to overclock so after you get settled in you can try for 4GHz and see if you notice anything and up from there if you choose to do so.

I'm going with a 128GB SSD and a 500 or 750 GB HDD. I figured I could just buy more storage later.

7850 is a good card but I would of gone with a 6950, same price, faster card. I was going to buy a 7850 yesterday but ended up buying a sapphire 6950 and unlocked the shaders. Its awesome.

Other then that, your build is nice thumb.gif
