Overclocking a C2-revision 955 with a Hyper 212

Thread Starter
Trying to go for 3.8.. until I find a deal on an Ivy Bridge platform (hopefully by then they'll make a revision curing the heat problem).
All I ever touched was the multiplier and voltage. FSB has never gone above 202. I'm not too experienced with CPU overclocking, it just seems like I know everything about everything except for overclocking cpus frown.gif

What settings should I change for a general average overclock? Understandably, all chips overclock differently; and also take into effect that my CPU is a c2 revision. (my cpu temperatures don't ever go above 55c, atm running prime95 at 3.6ghz 1.42v it hasn't gone above 52c)

Have you tried bumping it up to 3.8 yet? You can go a bit higher on the voltage if you need to as long as your temps stay good. The FSB is good if if you want to fine tune your overclock and get a few extra Mhz but you don't really need to use it when you have an unlocked processor. Try setting your CPU-NB to 2600Mhz and the CPU-NB voltage to about 1.275v that should give you a good bump in performance. Also, set your RAM to the factory recommended timings, frequency, and voltage while you try to get a stable overclock ( later on you can mess with your RAM a bit once you know you have a stable CPU OC)
