At the base of WindForce 5X cooling solution is a vapor-chamber plate, which draws heat from the GPU and memory chips. This plate makes contact with five 8 mm-thick copper heat-pipes. These pipes pass through the gargantuan heatsink in a closed loop. There are five 40 mm fans arranged on top of the card to ventilate the heatsink. These fans occupy extra space on the top-side of the card, since as we mentioned, almost the entire volume of the cooler's space is occupied by the heatsink. The back side of the card was also shown, fitted with a back-plate, with as many as four NEC Tokin proadlizers peeking out of a cutout. Other components on the back side are hard to make out.

Looks terribly inefficient
This looks like it may only be a two slot card, it may end up being the best air cooled card with proper flow direction.

all the heat being blown against your motherboard

If it does, which I doubt, turn them around and have it push out your case. Then have side fans on your case panel which sucks the air out.

They take a step forward with the black pcb. But 2 steps back with the terrible fans.

You need massive amounts of rpm to push through that large condensed fin stack.

we'll see, windforce cards didnt stand too tall with the previous generation cards, maybe this spasm of engineering will pull it off though.

as for being two slots, depending on the price and performance of the OC, you mite as well look at every other card as well, pretty sure all but one of the 680s is a dual slot card rite now (even if you watercool frown.gif )

Assuming those 40mm fans are pulling air and not pushing.
