Those are the corresponding bandwidth readings in MB/ Mb, whatever the report is reporting. Probably MB and Gb.

It's saying a whole lot,but you have to be more specific. Sandra has tons of info. Basically the results speak for themselves,you can click on each line to get more info.

Also,in the previous screens I posted,I did raise the memory speed to show the improved memory bandwith. If I left it at the same speed there would be no increase of bandwith,but if I left the HTT at a lower speed the memory bandwith would cap even if I increased the memory speed. I do not know if the GPU or PCIe is capable of doing the same thing.

Thread Starter 
so i was tinkering with my fsb and setting back my HTL to as close as 2000mhz
and oced via the fsb and the multi and i got my rams runing at 1:2 ratio wich is about 518Mhz @ 6-6-6-16-23 the lowest timing possible and a NB of 2600 mhz @ 4ghz and i benched it on sisandra and showed that the bandwidth efficiency was 74.30% with aggregated memory preformace of 12.13gb/s
then i oced 4 ghz NB 2500 mhz 1333@7-7-7-19-26 HTL 2000 Mhz and benched the memory and got a band width efficiency of 67% with a aggregated memory preformace of 14.30 gb/s so my question is what would be the best preformace out of the 2 benches? thinking.gif

The best way to leave your memory, is to leave it at the lowest CL that is possible. Doing this makes your OS 'feel' snappier, even as you may not have as much bandwidth available. But in real world terms, you're never going to notice the difference between 12Gb/sec and 14Gb/sec.


You're more likely to notice CL7 to CL6 instead. If you can't tell a difference between either (CL or bandwidth), then just do what you think your programs will like better - more bandwidth or less latency.

I use Ramdisks, and encode from them. This is a constant draw of data, for minutes or hours, so I want a nice fat pipe; latency doesn't mater as much when you're pulling in sequential anyway. As a result, I run my RAM at 1800 9-10-9.

I could, if I wanted, run my RAM at 1333 7-8-7. This would be ideal if I'm doing a lot of quick, small calls, the idea being "get it to me sooner, not more". It will give you a snappier feel to any program or OS. Anything that needs a small amount of data now.

There are a ton of people on both sides of the fence on this one who will both tell you their side is best. I think anything faster/tighter then 1600 8-8-8 probably isn't noticeable anyway, but its fun to tweak. Try it out and see which one feels better to you. biggrin.gif
