there's still plenty more room for improvement for the gui. like being able to choose your spawn point by clicking the map, I still struggle to know which of my squad members im spawning on. also just look at the gui concept that was made by someone in the community, that's what it shouldve been like.

Battlefield 3 had a significant amount of potential, and the game in my eyes was destroyed because of Battlelog and no VOIP. There are plenty of other issues I have but beyond those two they are relatively small in comparison. There was at one point a very well written Mega-thread which pointed out A LOT of problems, most of which were no brainers that most of the community could get behind and should have been fixed or implemented from the beginning but werent. But what made the thread so great was the fact the OP did a good job expressing the shortcomings and putting forth suggestions to fix it without acting immature or rude. Of course it eventually went to **** and EA/Dice while more than likely noticed it did not take any advice from it.

Hit detection being client side was a poor decision and could potentially be rectified in the future but I doubt it will. Its more of a inconvenience than anything else, but doesn't break the game for me. I wish it wasn't client side, but it is what it is. I'm more concerned with the bigger picture than I am with balancing issues. Balancing issues will get fixed no matter what, but things like network code, hit detection, VOIP, and Battlelog are harder to fix and require more people to express their anger for it to be fixed, and once it is, it will create a better experience.

DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach takes a look back at the patching process of Battlefield 3, its current state and how the gaming public views DICE’s AAA shooter six month later. Is it now, finally, the game it was promised to be?
Speaking to Eurogamer, Bach admits that Battlefield 3 could have seen a better launch. “Of course, three months before shipping, I would have loved to have said, screw it, let’s ship it six months later. But you can’t do that when you’re that close.” In a case such as this, he explains, “what we tried to do was make sure the game was good enough when we shipped it, and then post launch we have been updating it quite a bit, and also releasing these expansion packs, which also fix stuff in the game. There is definitely stuff I want to do better, but then again that’s why I always try to make things better.”
Reflecting on DICE’s experience with Battlefield 2 and comparing it to Battlefield 3, Bach mentions, “Battlefield 2 had the same cycle. When it was released people thought it was great. And then you had all the complaints. People still played it.” He continued, ”we patched BF2 several times. It wasn’t until 2.5 or something that people said, now it’s done. Now this is the game you should have shipped.”
Funny.... quality developers/publishers like Blizzard and Valve have no problem doing that. rolleyes.gif

well you don't see valve/blizzard games with a sign saying EA biggrin.gif it's different because they are studios that doesn't need a company like EA to release their games, they have money to cover the expenses of releasing their own games. ( i don't know for sure but it must be something like that)

anyway, i think the game is awesome after the last patch, i still hope they keep updating and improving it for a very long time biggrin.gif

Calling BF3 a COD clone, is like calling COD a CS clone - sure they are FPS game, but they are all vastly different in gameplay.

There is only so many ways to skin a cat, so all FPS games are going to be similar in that you have two sides shooting each other over something - but its how you go about shooting each other and the traits of the game engines and settings used that defines each game.

I've played COD since day dot and the gameplay of COD and BF3 is very different - the only ppl that might not pickup on the differences are those playing FPS games on a console.

its still completely terrible. Death delay around every corner mostly because its all crappy client side detection which is the problem. Thats my biggest gripe about this game but its a very fundamental thing for an FPS game. No matter how much skill you have you can't defend yourself against it

Oh please it's so obvious..."Cod Killer"? do you need more evidence....?
I think what people are all up in arms about when relating BF3 to being 'COD clone' or what have you, is the fact that on almost every single public server you get into- more and more people are just doing whatever they want all by their lonesome instead of taking the initiative as a squad member or team mate to make the round a win for the whole team.

I think that leads to the whole COD thing. They're not the same at all, but a lot of idiots run-and-gun-like-an-arcade-fun in true COD style.

I despise the senselessness you get on a lot of public servers, whether it be rush or conquest. I'm not a huge fan of conquest simply because I like the idea of rush- having played CS since it was a beta. So I lean toward rush as the go-to game style I prefer playing. TDM I find horribly dumb because of the really stupid spawn points and seriously limited map sizes for what would seem should be much larger.

So when you join a rush server with the intent on playing well and helping the team and being a great squad member only to then watch half of the team you joined do dumb, stupid, and idiotic things that help no one on the team win the round, it really makes me mad.gif.

I could see where my similar viewpoint would call people COD sheep joining in on the BF3 front.... hence the reference to calling BF3 a 'COD' type game, when it is purely not.
