Defective 7970?

I already requested an RMA just want to make sure it is broken. About once every 15 minutes at stock clocks the screen for about 1 second displays extreme artifacting on the left half of the display and then blinks and comes back. I tried new drivers and even did a fresh windows install between each set of drivers. Is it bad or am I overlooking something, I don't want to be without a card for 10 days. :/

If it is bad the rma is through the egg so it won't be too bad, had to request a refund since the sapphire ref are oos.

Sounds like it's defective. When it artifacts, are the temperatures within reason?

*OFF TOPIC* You better watch your PSU. That thing is pretty low quality.

From what I have seen the tems are usually about 50c buy I never thought to log it and check when it happened. If it makes it easier it is happening more. And I really need a new psu but I always space it when I am ordering. :/ any recommendations for a relatively cheap, less than 100, that will power my i5 2500k @5.0 and a 7970?

A bit overkill but the Antec NEO Eco 620w is on sale for $35 after MIR.

This.

But if you want to stay modular you could get an OCZ ZT 650w but that will cost more than the NEO Eco. 69.99 after MIR

I have a Corsair 550VX I'm going to list on the marketplace soon. It has 41A on a single 12V rail. Used a little over a year and powered a 95 watt Phenom and a 5770. I would let it go pretty cheap if buyer pays shipping. Here is the newegg link to the product.
