Why does it even matter? I can't imagine a scenario why you would buy a Z68 over a Z77. The prices are the same and in come cases Z77 is cheaper model for model. Do you already own a Z68 board?

I don't have any board as of now. But while researching I have learnt that for a new build it will be better to go with i5-3570k + z77 board.

@tbris84 - Thanks for the list! It really provided some important inputs for me. I will have to update my list now!

Memory: Samsung 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($47.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Crucial M4 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($78.95 @ Adorama)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ NCIX US)

Monitor: Acer S220HQLAbd 21.5" Monitor ($119.00 @ B&H)
Total: $1354.73

IMO you should really grab the Samsung low voltage ram, it has been known to overclock to 2400Mhz+
Grab a Crucial m4, Corsair is a great company, but Crucial M4s are the most recommend SSD on OCN because of price, reliability and speed. Plexor M3 and Samsung 830 are good alternatives.
I picked the XFX GPU because it should have better cooling.

For case suggestions, I personally like the Corsair 500R, 600T and 650D. If you are looking for a full tower, the NZXT Switch and Phantom are good choices thumb.gif

Its really difficult to find fault in the config put down by you! I see it pretty much perfect for my budget...
Couple of qq:
- Should I go for 850 or highr rated PSUs?Or should I just go for AX1200 like there is no tomorrow! tongue.gif Also, should I go for 80+ gold rated ones?
- SInce CM HAF XM case has been launched last week, will you prefer it over 932 advanced.
- For the cases some more suggestions needed biggrin.gif
criteria being - Exterior Black, Interior Black, LED fans in front, budget $0 to $150
- Also, is paying $100 more for 7970 justificable?! smile.gif

No you do not need more power, if anything you can grab a 80+ gold, you will save a little $$$ on your power bill. If you really care about the environment you can grab one. tongue.gif
Cases: what is your age, hobbies, etc... Cases are basically what YOU want, what you can look at all the time.
$100 difference, probably not IMO. When they are both overclocked they are within 5-10% of the same performance.

PSU: 750w should be more than plenty, but if you want a little extra headroom then definitely grab an 850w. I went with 750w myself. 1200w is WAY overkill unless you're going QuadFire 7950's. 80+ Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum... doesn't matter, IMO, you're only getting 2-3% more efficiency from one to the next. Do you want a cluster of cables in the basement of your case? I know I don't, go modular!

Case: HAF XM is a pretty sweet looking case. Roommate has the 932, I was never a big fan of the HAF styling, but they're excellent for air cooling. You should check out the Corsair Carbide 500R, it's black on black with dual LED front fans. After MIR and promo deal it's only $95 on Newegg.

GPU: If you're going to jump up from the 7950, hold out for the 680 to be in stock. They've been popping up on NewEgg every morning between 3-4am EST. Actually there is a 680 Galaxy on NewEgg right NOW! lol $500.

Memory: I had G.Skill in my last build, excellent memory. Trying the Samsung 30nm's out this time around.
