Guidance/tips on learning to draw. Where do I go ?

Hello everyone, I once again call upon the vast knowledge of OCN.

I really want to learn how to draw, but Im having a hard time finding guides and learning materials. I though there probably we're some people on here who have taken online lessons in this area. So if any of you guys know of a free or very cheap online course that I could follow, and really just any help on getting started and staying motivated and what not, I would greatly appreciate it.

Right now, I already have good quality drawing sketchbook and pencils, but my goal is to move to a digital drawing media at some point, using Photoshop and other software like it for drawing. What I want to be able to do, is have a picture in my mind, and then getting it down on paper (or a monitor later on). I mainly want to be able to draw just using my fantasy, and with a focus on characters.

Also, the reason why I want something like an online course I can follow from home is, that Im not able to go to classes, due to me living in the middle of nowhere and not having a car.

Thank you in advance

Check out Lynda.com. There are great tutorials there for all kinds of software....Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash etc... That will get you on your way to learning the software and how to apply drawing to it....I suggest getting a tablet for this as you will get a much more satisfying result than if you were to use a mouse.

The drawing side of things, there are some good sites and books around.

That seems to be a good one for beginners. I guess youtube will be a good asset too.
