Looking for an extensive list web-safe fonts to choose from in CSS.

For safe I bet you mean "visible" by virtually as many visitors as possible.
If I were in you I'd stick with those in that page.

You could use as well any font available in Windows XP or Windows 7, assuming that anyone using those OS could read that font. But then again you can't be sure of which version they are using or if they work on a different OS.

If you still wanna use cool fonts I suggest the font-face feature of the yet-to-be-standard CSS3.

Anyone with an updated browser could read those. If not you can still fall back on a support font.
