never owned it b4 but it looks ok, goes to 3800+ so should be overclockable on a lower processor, onboard graphics might suffice if not using extreme graphis so seems good enough for what your friend needs.

Or of course you could sell your p3 system and build yourself a new system sorry only joking

Ok, check this out. If it's too expensive just let me know and I'll cut down on the specs a bit.

thanx for the help, the price is right but i'm trying to build my friend an amd system. i actually checked the combo deals section on newegg and found that for the $600 limit she gave me i can build my amd system as well as hers, the only thing is that the mobo and cpu combos have to be socket 754 cuz i already got my processor, just gotta get the rest of it.

Well you have to understand that that's the cheapest dual core processor available. I doubt that AMD system would be dual core. Not only that, but it could be upgraded to conroe whenever you felt like.

So newer tech + upgradability for same price.

Amd would not be the best choice right now.

no my system won't be dual core nor will hers, but i don't really do much more on my current system than she will when i build her system, so i dont really see the need for dual cores but i can definately use specs for ppl who insist on buying intel based systems, after all i am training to be a pc repair tech and i need knowledge of both amd and intel systems

Sure it may not be needed but it's the same price and is the wave of the future. Why pay the same for outdated tech?

mainly because of the fact that rather than get paid cash for my work, i am ordering parts from the combo deals that will allow me to build a new pc at the same time as hers. also i want to see what amd will release to compete with intels core 2 dou.
