Planning to get a Corsair ForceGT 120GB SSD

Thread Starter
Im thinking of getting a Corsair ForceGT 120GB SSD for my OS (50GB) and games drive, My PC is mainly used for gaming. Its $175 each from where Im getting.. Im saying each because I might go with RAID0 using a Gigabyte P67-A-UD4-B3. Im not aware if this board/SSD supports RAID0 + TRIM, Im also wondering if its worth getting RAID0 on it. Thoughts?

Get a single larger SSD. Don't bother with RAID. You won't notice a difference anyways.

If the speed difference is negligible then I would just opt for a single drive since Im sure I cannot fill up an entire 111Gb for formatted space, I was attracted to the though of having really good speeds in RAID0 with these drives.

Sean is right. Other than being a benchmark king, ssd in raid is a waste. When you raid, it's your sequential numbers that get the bump. But sequential speed is used less than 10% of time.

And you can find better than the Force GT for that money. M4 for instance.

Nah, just kidding. Kinda...

But yeah, what they said. When you go to SSD speeds, it doesnt matter whether you get 450mb/s or 750mb/s reads as both are practically instantaneous. RAID 0 just adds another drive, which theoretically raises the chances of you losing your data.

It is worth mentioning that RAID would also make your boot time worse.
Well, atleast thats what happened to me.

BIOS took 4-6 seconds, Raid took 15-20 seconds and Win7 took 9-10 seconds to complete. smile.gif
After getting the ForceGT 120GB it was lowered to a total of 15-20 seconds to reach the login screen.
