Strange blue screen all of a sudden :\

Thread Starter
Check this out brah!:
IMG-20120501-00075.jpg

Strange as it happened out of nothing, my gpu isn't overclocked and is 100% stock. This **** happend out of the blue while I was playing NFS The run for less than 15 minutes.
and I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the 295.40 driver since I've been using it for almost 2 months without an issue before. Now I can't even boot windows anymore. Anybody knows what happend?
thanks

The BSOD screen is full of artifacts, so it seems like the card needs a replacement.

Try out the card in a different PC to confirm this.

It does appear that you're card may have just suddenly died. However, if that is the case, can you see the POST screen when you go to boot your PC clearly? If you can't see any issues then it may be a catastrophic driver failure. To rule out a driver problem try starting in safe mode and re installing your drivers, otherwise it may be the card. The quickest check for that though is probably, as mentioned, to check the card in another PC if possible.

The BSOD code nvlddmkm.sys is for sure the new drivers problem!!!

All the latest nVidia drivers suxxx...

Lot's of threads/post were all about this!!!

Just try to install the drivers from the makers of your card...

But the artifacting is something else... Don't know if it's driver related... I do know that it looks like the RAMDAC (RAM frequentie output) is dead, and that means... new card...

But whatever you try, try to delete the nVidia driver and ONLY install the driver that came on the CD with your card, or download the latest driver on the manufactur's website, NOT nVidia's site...

You can use another card to put in first to uninstall driver, and then use your card again to install the new driver...

He should also be able to use safe mode to get in since safe mode loads without any 3rd party drivers.

Okay first off thank you for your concern mates!, it's warming, you guys are such family! :'D
I'm replying to this thread in safe mode and yes I still am able to get into safe mode, Ive previously tried to install ver.285.62 driver which is three generations older than the latest one(ver 296.10) and No Luck. The other unusual thing being a long graphic card detection phase after I restart from blue screen. Startup repair didn't help as well. This is my only desktop and I got no spare components to test with so I think I'm ****d lol
wait, this 980x used to be Ocd to 5.999ghz 1.8v with LN2 by an old friend for less than a day, could this have anything to do with CPU degrading from heavy OC? but I've tested this 3.8 ghz with prime95 blend for 14 hours + 9 hours of FAH few days back and it was rock stable :\
thanks again mates!

The one brief stint on LN2 would have degraded right then and there if it was going to at all, if it was fine a few days ago and you haven't been pumping 1.6v through it since then that won't be the problem. Especially since at the rate of degradation, it certainly wouldn't have gone from fine to not booting at all that quickly.

I think your best bet would be to, in safe mode, uninstall the nVidia drivers, then run driver sweeper in safe mode to remove all traces of it. After that, with no driver, try to restart. If it boots normally with no driver, then install the last good driver you had and see if it will work for you.

Hey, rolling back DOES NOT WORK, I tried rolling back 6 (yes SIX) drivers and no go... So I uninstalled it one more time and installed the driver from the website (ASUS in my case) and it still works like a charm!!!

267.85 is what I'm on now (and it does not excist on nVidia page) so it got to be something different in those drivers...

You really need to try the original driver dude!!!

I can boot up into windows again after I driver-swept the driver but when I tried to detect my GPU on nvidia's site, the site was no longer able to detect the presence of my GTX580 frown.gif so I stopped right there because I doubt reinstalling driver will do it. Oh and inno3d doesn't seem to provide there own driver but a direct link to nvidia's. oh well, I don't know how long I will let myself stuck in 800x600 like this lol
still, I got a bad feeling that there might be something wrong happend to my card physically since it was all of a sudden, been like more than two years without a hitch :S
