Will this cisco router work with broadband (cable) internet..

Cisco Small Business SRP547W-A-K9 SRP500

I see it both has wan and ADSL and not sure if it can work with my cable modem. I thinking of getting it to hook up this Cisco SG300-10 (SRW2008-K9-NA) switch with it.

Also, could I hook up this CISCO CISCO861W-GN-A-K9 router to this Cisco SG300-10 (SRW2008-K9-NA) switch and achieve 10/100/1000mbps over the network even though the router is a 10/100mbps? I'm going to be hooking this up to a home network with ten computers and I want to make sure I can achieve 1000mbps connection on the wired side of the network.

I'm going to be taking classes during the fall on managing Cisco routers and I want to get a head start.

Take the 861 over the first thing.

Keep in mind LAN transfers in the same subnet will remain in a switched environment. This means that from PC to PC you will have gigabit but for something like toward your WAN you will have 100 mbps from the switch to the router, which is greater than your WAN bandwidth package.

SRP547W-A-K9 would work with your cable modem but that seems expensive for what you would be using it for. The 861W-GN-A-K9 is outdated and that is an outrageous price. The switch is nice but again, quite expensive for what it actually is.

Considering the 851 it is replacing doesn't have end of support until July 31, 2015, perhaps you need to do a bit of additional research regarding product lines.

Thanks + Getting the 861 router and SG300 switch. Can't wait to start learning the Cisco IOS and starting taking my network classes for my second associate's and Cisco certification classes next semester biggrin.gif

That's what the switch is for. 10port gig ports on it. my internet connection speed is 25mbps, so a 100mbps router is more than enough. I only care about computer to computer connection speed, and the switch takes care of that.
