Epic AMD CPU Grudge Match....AMD Slug It Out-orama 2012!! - Page 12

FX 6100 is faster when overclocked then Phenom II X4 OC too. I tested them both, becpuse i had PII X4 955BE before FX 6100 on same board. Phenom was on 4.0Ghz, and FX 4.5Ghz. I coud push my Phenom to 4.2Ghz for benches, but i opted for 4.0Ghz as average for max 24/7 overclock on Phenom. FX 6100 is about 4.5Ghz also average high overclock, but i coud run all benches on 4.8Ghz ( i did it smile.gif. I can say for sure that FX 6100 is faster. The fact is that Phenom is very good in comparation to FX in older programs. New programs witch utilise new instructions, Phenom is well behind, and offcourse in well threaded programs. As for Intel side. i3 2100 is NO competition for FX 6100. I woud bet that FX 6100 @ 4.5Ghz ( witch is possible i think with stock cooler ) is FASTER on global then i5 2300 or 2400. FX 6100 isnt super fast chip, but ist very deacent chip when one look the price of it. And FX 6100 gains easily 30% do 40% performance when its overclocked moderate.

I like seeing anything positive about AMD chips smile.gif My 955 was starting to struggle in games and it didn't look like there was any upgrade path with AMD so I went ahead and bought a 2500K which I feel a bit ashamed of because of it's built in DRM frown.gif I just needed a CPU that would perform better in games. I hope to see things get better with AMD CPU's smile.gif Looking forward to seeing all the results here...

Just as a side note to why I've got my plate full - The wife has me wiping and reinstalling Win 7 on a laptop for a friend who doesn't have the money to take it to Geek Squad. From what I can tell her son likes torrents and the PB so it's FULL of trojan's (non false positive) and some really nasty viruses. She had Norton installed and it didn't catch them from what I can see. I think it's interesting to note that I run MSE and between that and Malwarbytes I've never had a problem with viruses that either weren't caught or couldn't be quarentine and wiped. So I have to say Kudos to MS for actually doing something right (I still think Bill Gates is the devilsmiley.gif incarnate tongue.gif).

Oh and one of the reasons I don't have PCMark 7 in here as a comparison is spintel already got caught cheating with other futuremark programs (vantage etc.) so if I'm going to list an intel chip as a baseline I don't want it to be skewed with things like that or Sysmark (another example of spintel cheating).

*edit - and don't get me wrong, I'm not an AMD fanboy. I think the 2500K is a monster of a CPU.

For sure man. I'm no fanboy myself. Just buy what seems best for my money at the time smile.gif This is actually my first Intel chip since my Pentium 4 (god knows how many years ago) lol! Anyways what's this about Intel cheating? I never heard about that before... :/

I'll just post these for reference. I don't want this thread to degrade into an Intel discussion/bashing thread so we'll just leave it at that. There are other threads here that go into detail on those issues.

Wow... "If you're familiar with the output of this test, you're probably shooting your Coke out of your left nostril all over your screen while pointing at the Intel result." LOL.

Absolutely. I wouldn't want this thread going into that either. To many threads get ruined by stuff like that. I was merely interested in that news. Thanks for the links thumb.gif

Like I said hit me with your 4.0 results and if someone has an i3 or locked i5 (we already know the unlocked i5/i7 capabilities) Please feel free to post those so we can use it as a baseline.
