I had one tell me I should return my FX and buy the 2120 or i5-2300 and get a "MUCH faster chip".

TL;DR

What do you need?

LOLOL, that's hilarious. FX-6100 slower then i3? Yeah right, 6100 would crush the i3.
If you want, I can provide i5 results, at what clock, 4GHz?

Sure, that should take care of intel baseline besides having an i3-2100/2120/2130 which are all withing $20 of the 6100 at the moment.

It's all in the first post. a list of benches we're using so far, the results so far and the rules for the first round (20*200=4.0GHz mem at 1600 all other settings ie HT & NB at stock).

If there's ever a question about what we're doing refer to the first post or send me a message.

Remember, for this first round if your CPU's model is already listed in the results hold off till we do the second round which will be just go crazy and give us your best OC results. tongue.gif

Give me about an hour to rechart and repost the results so far.

Thanks, I saw your settings, didn't realize everyone was running the same settings. I have a tendency to miss important details occasionally.
Very interested in the results, great idea to do this comparison. Thanks to everyone involved for their efforts.

Oh damn, my memory is stock at 1333, is that alright? I may take out 2 sticks, and OC to 1600.

If you're talking about your intel chip then no you can leave it as is, it's up to you. The clock for clock ram speed for ram speed comparison is for all the AMD chips. In all reality most intel i3 users are going to be at 1333 since it doesn't support memory higher than that. I'm not sure about i5 though. Does it support higher memory speeds?

It supports 1600, but my RAM is bad (even though it's G.Skill) and won't overclock at ALL.

I'll leave it at 1333, I doubt it'll make THAT big of an impact.

Also, 4GHz, correct?

1333 is what SB i3 officially supports, though it can run up to 2133 for SB or 2400 for IB. I have mine running at 1866.
