Honestly...my chip performs pretty much the same either way. Base clock adjustment does improve performance a little to an extent. But with my motherboard the problem is that at certain bus speeds my RAM speed choices become 1700's and next step over 2050 which causes boot problems for some reason (I'm guessing because to go 2K + RAM speed the CPU/NB multi has to be at 10 and that puts it at 2100 plus.
Mine does the same. For some reason, i cant get my PC to boot with ram over 1333 if i go over 3.6ghz
Currently i'm sitting on 3.6 at 1.250 volts with 1600mhz ram at 1.7 (Wouldnt boot at 1.65) I've memtested the ram numerous times and its come up clean
