They act like it is totally incompetent hardware and ridiculously priced and tell us we are idiots for making the purchase. I wanna say thank you for creating this thread guys! It has been very informative and entertaining to read through. My fx 8120 is a work horse in my house. It is a quad core on the main machine and 2 separate dual cores via virtual machine over remote desktop on my home network. As we speak, I have Arkham Asylum minimized and my kids are streaming a netflix movie in their room and my wife is in the bedroom doing laundry while streaming one of her shows. Moral of the story is 1 cpu, 3 computers. Now thats bad azz!
What are the kids and wife using for equipment to remote desktop in? Interested in this as I have a bunch of htpc's and a server, looking to virtualize and reduce the footprint.
Thanks
my kids are on an old Pentium 4 3.0ghz and my wife is using a dual core original Athalon. Every pc is on gigabit ethernet on my home network and it is really fantastic how great the 8120 holds up. I had doubts at first but tried it anyways and its pretty much like they have new computers. I have ran cinebench on my kids machine before virtual machine and after and the score was basically double. The old pentium they have could barely stream 480p movies now they can watch 1080p with ease.
