But when you get into the range that you can spend $200-300 for a processor, and a decent amount for RAM and motherboard, Intel would obviously be the better choice.
That being said, I still love my 960T, I've tortured that thing, and it still runs strong.

I don't disagree. If the choice comes down to the 8150 vs 2500k for the same money I would say the 2500k since it's power consumption is a bit lower. Although when it comes to things like video conversion the 8150 really does trounce the 2500k but overall I would still go that route since the difference isn't MASSIVELY huge. Now if the 8150 were $50-75 lower than the 2500K the choice is different. Now if I had $300 to spend on a CPU without having to sacrifice for a budget MB and GPU to do so, Then I would be looking at the i7's. But really in the sub $200 range AMD still rules the roost and I haven't seen anything that changes that. Even if the 2500K drops below $200, that's only one chip vs AMD having a whole lineup in that range that is great value for the money.

Got the modified H40 in (modified with the copper block from the H50 and both of the radiators in a loop) so I'm back up and running. At 4.5 I'm seeing idle temps of 30C and max temps after 15 runs of IBT at 57C with ambient temp of 22.5C. I'll push it a little higher and do the IBT runs and then bench it.

I could probably suicide run 4.5GHz on my 1055t for the second run but I definitely couldn't pass IBT 50 passes...

The emails I received are in that thread. Use that info with the max temp listed for your cpu (found in multiple places but cpu world usually lists it or you can look through the specs on AMD.

Here's my first set of Round 2 results. I'll have to tweak a bit more to hit 5GHz. I'm using a closed loop water cooling setup.

Will give it a go and see what I get. At this stage I am perfectly happy with my 4.5Ghz @1.375v - the temps stay in the 40's (degC) at max load.
Edit: 5gig is easy enough. Will test it now.

Edit #2 - started throwing errors at about 20min of prime95. temps got to about 53degC. I am thinking that I would have to up my CPU/NB voltage slightly... but thats where I get worried. without any way of monitoring NB temps I dont want to melt anything!

Thats actually pretty impressive
