Epic AMD CPU Grudge Match....AMD Slug It Out-orama 2012!! - Page 82

I was using a custom loop with a 360 rad push pull and my 8120 was hitting 60c socket temp and 56c core temp with 1.45vcore at 4.7ghz to be prime stable. My 1035t running 1.6vcore never gets above 55c socket or core temp and that's 24 hour prime and 50 runs linpack. 8core bulldozers run very hot. A simPle google search will show you plenty of people with the same issue. A lot of people RMA'ed there chips because of it.

First you mean 60C "CPU Temp" (i.e. TCase). The socket thermistor is TJunction for AMD CPU's. The specified Max Op. Temp for AMD's is TCase = X temp (X temp is dependant on your model AMD CPU). The FX series only run very hot when OC'ing above 4.1-4.2 on air and 4.5 on liquid cooling even then they don't hit the temps that IB does when overclocking. Stock they actually run quite cool.

Quick HI - To say Hello to Bubba and all his super friends...

Bubba, without doubt in the UK, "I m not sure about the USA Prices mate", However, the AMD 3870K is the best value CPU in the UK against the i3-2120 for example and the same price ATM, anyhow.

Coming fully unlocked on the FM1 Motherboard New Bios, that's fun to use.. and also comes with a( iGPU 6550D) which OC'd @950Mhz peeps say. is FAB, which is pretty Good in my book.

So AMD Have a decent chip Overclocked to take on the i3 @ the same price with much better iGPU which will play Games..and a Budget FM1 Board to match. (Perhaps even beat) who knows.!

all I have left to say I wish "Bubba and Friends" all the best this weekend, for sure... you are decent people (I only wish I had the chance to met you lot.!) but maybe another place another time. ehh.

So enjoy the weekend peeps... GOOD-LUCK.! Geekerdom. smile.gifsmile.gifthumb.gif

by adding a single 6560 the rig will crossfire with the APU giving you the performance of a 6770

I bought a case that has a spot to mount a 120mm fan on the backside of the mobo my temps have droped 8 to 5 degress and I stay cooler even running prime for 4 hours at 4.3 gig on my 1090T

do any of you fx overclockers notice that the voltage required to maintain an overclock is slowly needing to be adjusted higher to get the same stability? I notice I now need 1.45 where previously I was hitting 4.5ghz at 1.4v.

not sure where you from but might be the ambient temp. it is a good idea to set an oc during warmer conditions.

I've been adjusting my voltage down slowly as I've been tweeking settings.

4.4ghz only required 1.325v on my end, and 4.5ghz required 1.35v. As I attempt to gain higher speeds I need to really start putting more voltage though the chip.

However I have been running my chip at a massive undervolt at stock speeds for the last week or so, and frankly have not noticed any real difference in performance of the applications I have been using lately between 3.6ghz and 4.6ghz.

Try running your FX-4100 @ the default 3600mhz while only pushing 1.135v though it.
