Bought a 3770k but thinking about returning it, heres my dillema. Help! - Page 2

It all depends on your chip no chip is the same at overclocking.
Some get to 5GHz with low voltage
Some get to 5GHz with high voltage (mine altough temps stay reasonable with 1.5vcore)
Some hit a wall at 4.8GHz i think

Anyways unless you hit a wall or need insane amount of vcore you will be able to do 5GHz. But the question is do you need it or want it that bad? You can probably squeeze a bit more out of it with you Hyper212

I have gone down the hardcore closed loop route and just don't feel like getting that deep into it again. All the bleeding, hose clamps etc got annoying after a while. That being said, how good is an h100 compared to a high end loop setup? Are these h100's just a small step above my hyper 212+ or will I really see some nice gains.

With my 212 plus i did 4.3ghz @ 64 degrees (2500K) and now with my custom 360 loop i hit 4.7ghz @ 52 degrees. I think the H100 is in between these 2.

my h100 can handle 5ghz @1.42vcore maxing 75C during prime test, but i only run it at 4.5ghz for daily uses (mostly gaming) and 4.5ghz vs 5ghz in gaming wont noticed a difference but you will get the " Bragging Rights Medal" tongue.gif

Oh wow. Newegg is deceiving! There was a refund button next to that order in my order history so I thought it was possible. Went and clicked it to start the process and it says cpu's are non refundable. Great!

Now my options are limited. Keep it, sell it on Craigslist and probably take a hit, or sell it on a classified page online. What shall I do =(

I set up a 2500k system last night with a Hyper 212+ and ended up with 4.8ghz 1.224v load and only 62c max on hottest core. Best 2500k yet out of over 30+. Does 4.5ghz 1.144v load and 53c max load.

FILL OUT your system specs and maybe I'll help you overclock your 2500k way better to also lower your temps.

If you're gaming at 1080p, return it. Keep everything the way you had it prior. 680 and 2500k will max your 1080p games for ATLEAST the next few years.

long as it's unopened you might have a case better to try than not right.

id keep the 2500k and do a new build later.

almost every one here has the upgrade bug even though they really dont need too (there are a few who have valid reasons) but it happens to use all we jump at buying something and then sit back and say why

Even if I am able to return it to Newegg that is a 15% restocking fee that roughly equates to 50 bucks. I think I would be better off trying to sell it on craigslist or online. I need to work on my impulse buying =(
