Well ivy ain't bad in 1 sense like bulldozer.
ivy is still an upgrade.for everyone that doesn't own a socket 2011 10% gain in clock 4 clock peformance.over an 2600k not overclocked.

Lower TDP
Native support for S-ata 6gbps USb 3.0 and PCi-E 3.0 how can this be bad.?????

Bulldozer was fail period. because clock for clock peformance was slower than the older phenomII.
Thats what i call a fail and even the 2 new "extra cores"doesn;t justify the bad single threaded peformance,
Since loads of apps still can't utilize 8 cores.
Mayb in windows 8 we see a small peformance increase. but it won;t be big enough to let me switch from intel to AMD.

i will be honest always was an AMD user. but after FAILdozer. they are to far behind to even take a step in the high end segment(sandy bridge is mid end just like IVY and even that dominates AMD's flagship CPU)
because 8 core fx 8150 vs 2500K quad core. the 2500K demolishes the Bulldozer.
even in multithreaded Apps like cinebench overclocked the 2500K will be equal or even win.
""i won;t even speak of games that sometimes will have 2ice the FPS ""
For example WOW that utillizes only a few cores biggrin.gif the 2500K will exceed the fx8150 by almost the double ammount of frames.
And here you see where efficiency will take over.

BTW Sorry 4 my english & late reply

Right on.. this benchmark alone tells it all imo...

2500K is blue
8150 is black
4 core intel(no hyperthreading mind you) beating an FX 8 core in a multithreaded bench

Has anyone used an 8150? so much hate but I'm doubting you've used one. I got to use one just recently from a friend, I also used a 2600k because I was deciding which to buy, now I couldn't personally tell the difference between them in real world usage despite me knowing what pretty much everyone else knows already, I was expecting the 2600k to be crazy fast compared to 8150, but it was exactly the same. I didn't bench, I used Photoshop like I would normally and rendered some heavy 2D animation. The one thing I did try was apply a filter to one of my larger images, the Anand bench says the 8150 is about 3 seconds slower than the 2600k, but I couldn't feel the difference, no matter what I applied nothing took more than 6 seconds on either cpu.

I decided to get a 2600k though for a couple reasons in the end. thumb.gif

Oops, does this mean I should get 8150? LOOL...

My statement still appears to stand.

In the real world, an oc'ed SB will perform as well or better than an oc'ed IB with less heat & less noise.

Now please compare the single threaded benchmarks and the game benchmarks and than you will see(and you must note that this is 4 dedicated cores against 8 dedicated cores) i know what my choice would be biggrin.gif(no offence).
I work @ a hardware company and have multiple of these chips in my hand everyday. and must conclude that the fx 8150 isn't even comparable with an 2600K unfortuantly don't get me wrong i aint a fan boy or what ever(i buy what fits my needs)
,BUT unfortunatley CPU wise AMD is to far behind.
(on""their'' high end segment)

It depends what you got your hands on biggrin.gif if you have a well overclockable SB chip biggrin.gif than i would say no, don't upgrade atleast until IVy-E or haswell.
But if you don't .......................................than IVy = an verry good upgrade
