[Geekosystem] Australia Finally Investigating Its Absurdly High Software Prices - Page 7

Guys its just free market economy, supply and demand. All you gosh darn (insert term for logical-thinking people here) are socialists! Government regulation would kill business and stifle innovation and ruin the job creators! And the real reason its so expensive is the taxes are too high, probably 100%!

/sarcasm.

How can an digitally copied and distributed product/service be subject to supply issues? Demand, sure, but not supply.

Oh yes but the key doesn't exist until it's purchased, so demand is always equal to supply. And they still get taxed. And if demand is high enough to support their "fair" prices, the "fair" prices will stay.

(yes I'm still trolling)

Digitally-distributed software may not get taxed. Steam games aren't taxed, at least not in Aus. VAT might apply for UK residents though, I'm not sure.

Steam games are all taxed for me since Valve is a local company. Same with Amazon.com :l
