Mild Gaming Laptop Summer 2012

Any ideas on what laptop will be the one to get this summer? Not sure if I want a Trinity, Intel HD4000, or a Keplar based one yet.

Budget will be about $800? Cheaper the better. Will be outputting some games on my 1080p monitor so I don't have to bring my desktop, but can still game on a big monitor. Looking to get a 14" or 15.6" laptop size for portability.

Lenovo has a couple new y series coming out with IB and kepler. I'd say go with that or look at sager or malibal.
Being an intel guy, I haven't been following trinity. Traditionally, AMD does a better job of onboard/integrated graphics than intel does, but if you get a keplar and/or 7000M gpu I don't think it matters too much.

Looking at a couple of sites, it looks like the HD4000 from Intel is still miles behind Trinity though. So Keplar vs Trinity then?

I haven't been following trinity, but I'd say that sounds about right. Usually it's AMD vs. intel+dedicated.

Yea HD4000 isn't really powerful enough for regular gaming. It is a decent amount faster than the HD3000, but the HD3000 can't play minecraft smoothly

That Lenovo looks decent but definitely get one with the cheapest ivy bridge quad

it runs blackops max AA off @ 50~60 fps, GTA 4 ~medium/high AA off @ 35~55 fps. pretty decent i'd say smile.gif

I'm in a similar boat, although I've got a keen eye on CPU performance as it'll double as a music production laptop. Right now I'm leaning towards Trinity, but benchmarks are very scarce!! I'm also hoping that it'll launch in budget (mine is £400-450, about $700) - rules out quad Ivy, but I'm hopeful for dual core in budget. They need to get more laptops out after release though, there's still hardly any Ivy Bridge laptops out at the moment, and it was released a week ago!
