Factory like overclocking with Turbo mode?

Hi I have some questions, is it possible to to a factory like overclock on a fx-6100? I am getting my system parts in about two days and was originally thinking of emulating the fx-6200. After reading a bit the 6100 can do a lot more than 3.8ghz. I was thinking of playing around and try to make a factory like overclock similar to the fx-6200 with turbo and possibly cpu scaling though there might be a bit of a performance drop as long its not much it should be ok.

Is this possible was thinking of about a 4ghz main overclock and 4.2 or more turbo. With windows 8 fixes it will shut down cores for single thread apps and there might be some advantages here if hitting high frequencies but not all the time.

This is a discussion about overclocking with turbo core so please stay on topic. Thanks. wink.gif

dude it can handle that. i have my FX 8120 OC'd to 3.6Ghz and then 3.9Ghz turbo with STOCK cooling.

Idling at 28C - 32C on all 8 cores. highest ive hit was 60C on all 8 and along with the socket saying 60C but then again im running LinX... not like anything is gonna be harder on the cpu than that. i mean mine is completely stable and once i go buy a nice HS next week im gonna push it to 4Ghz with maybe a 4.3 turbo. these chips are very very easy to get insane overclocks with. just think if i had a better mobo and watercooling.

Also, i run real temp along with a custom batch file to execute a shutdown in the even it hits 62C.

EDIT: Now running at 3.7Ghz stock cooling and so far so good. temps dont exceed 58C. so id definitely say do it! as long as you know what youre doing

Can you post your settings for it?

Dont try and attempt it with the stock cooler.....It'll be noisy and hot.

Got that covered getting a Corsair H-100 cpu water cooler. Over clocking with the stock cooler is a no no the vertical pipe air cooler work well from what I read but cover ram slots

I've never had a problem with the Air coolers. smile.gif

It should be easy enough to OC, if you increase the base Clock, i think the turbo will change in response.

its currently down atm cuz im getting a new mobo today or tomorrow...
off the top of my head,
3.7Ghz (230Mhz x 15.5 i think) @1.35v never hits above 60C and never will because im picking up a HS (like i said, OCing on stock cooling was temporary. i just bought it and i wanted to play around with it and im not stupid so theres no way it would burn up. EVEN created a .bat file to initialize a shutdown if it hit 61C since i prefer my own code vs realtemp shutdown)
most of the info is upto date in my sig. uhm dont know how i was pulling those timings on a budget board but yeah that was real.
most was left on auto. that way it was CLICK CLICK and BAM its OC'd. really stable too. LinX for 8 hours (yes i know thats really not enough but i knew i was going to be changing out parts so why waste time doing tests that will be pointless instead of gaming? lol)

Memory was linked so that was running at 1536Mhz instead of 1333Mhz and yes with those timings in my sig.
Turbo disabled since it actually SLOWED it to a crawl... instead of going to 4.0Ghz it went to 3.3Ghz. 3 programs verified that.
Spread Spectrum off
thermal throttling DISABLED completely
c1e disabled
c6 state disabled

Ok ill just put it this way...
EVERYTHING besides SVM was off. i needed SVM to run SLI since the mobo doesnt support SLI but theres a way around that... HYPERSLI

hope that answered your question. ill validate it all and get back to you once its running how it should... WINDOWS with that damn signed driver enforcement wont let me install on my RAID 0. thats why its down... i will NOT ACCEPT running on one drive.

it does. atleast on mine... just change the multiplier and there ya just changed your turbo from 3.6 to 4.0

thats just not how i work. i OC it with stock then go get a HS so i can compare everything to stock. smile.gif

The FX-6100 I had I can oc it to 4.4ghz stable on all 6 cores.
