Looks like the AMD/Intel price wars have begun. - Page 2

The 2500K was $180 in store only for a while but after sales tax, youre back up to $198. Its down to $170 now but in store only which would be $187 after taxes. Still a great deal though if youre one of those lucky enough to live near one. I have one in Atlanta which is 2.5 hours away so after gas and sales tax, it aint worth it to me really. Sometimes I run down there just for a road trip or something to do with the wife and kid. I keep wanting to cruise down there to pick up one of those $150 8120's. Even though Id be blowing $50 in gas, I would be able to justify it in my mind. biggrin.gif

You can try to get NCIX to price match it. Some people reported success, some people reported denial. Never hurts to try.

No crap! I posted in the deals section that the FX8150 had dropped to $200 at Microcenter plus you get $40 off a compatible MB and got slammed. I came from an Intel 2500K and I really like my FX8120 better. Does it bench as high? No, but who cares. It plays my games, converts my videos like mad and works without any issues, what more can you ask for?

Lower temps and better running costs?

If AMD can get the power consumption down, I consider it a winner.

Yeah, mine too..... buttkick.gif
Need a backup board and trying to fit that one in but so far it's been "We can't afford to do that right now".....

I've noted that board prices are starting to get a little lower too.
I've seen a few go down a little in price and maybe that's a sign of some good deals to come along with the newer stuff to come along soon as well.

The wife is actually kinda wanting me to build her a computer since her 10 year old one is getting pretty long in the tooth. Im trying to figure out how I can work this out into my favor. You know like buying a nice new case and giving her my old one or something like that. I may do something like get her a Intel build with those $170 2500K and $50 off motherboard deals down at Microcenter. I know its blasphemy as much as Ive been pimping for AMD lately but I really want to play with overclocking one of those thing. If its the wife's computer I can still keep my AMD fanboy cred cause, hey, its the wife's rig. Not mine. Right? biggrin.gif

I know I know and I feel dirty just typing that but man, $170 for a 2500K and a Maximus IV Gene-Z for $130! Man thats sweet!

I mainly want to do it because Ive never overclocked on an Intel proc before so Id have to learn everything all over again. That would be a lot of fun I would think.
