Seriously, they could make a TON more money than they already do if they wanted.
So blizzard gives us the opportunity to make a little money playing a game while making a little extra themselves and you somehow see this as bad...
You'll have a hard time convincing me that you've done any research at all on this subject.

Designing an developing games costs A LOT more money than adding in a feature that will let players of your game buy items that allow your company to make money.

This is just an income supplement. I don't understand why all of you people have your knickers in a knot. Would you rather them tax real wolrd transactions or pay $15 a month? Because guess what is going to happen to WoW if Diablo 3's system is successful once they want to go F2P with WOW when their new MMO comes out?

Another huge reason for the RMAH is that there are tons of sites selling diablo II items for real money. People are spending real money on items regardless... at least this way they are supporting the bnet servers and not bot development.

Exactly, I'll take a regulated system in which I have to pay a small fee for over what D2 had any day.

This. I rather it be done legitly than through some third party site where if you get screwed, then you're screwed.

As to buying and selling in game, I did a lot of that back in the day, I avoided d2jsp...they made me mad early on. I used to use dtrades.org, which is just about dead these days. I sold my final stuff on ebay actually before I quit and I made quite a bit on the whole shebang.

This is hard to believe coming from you. Blizzard drove a chunk of their fan base crazy taking so long to release DIII. It has been 4 years since the game was announced and ~10 since the last Diablo release. The Warcraft series (not WoW) hasn't seen a release in 9 years and it was also ~10 years in between Starcraft releases. I'll be the first to say that Blizzard cashed in on WoW but it isn't like they are putting out bad games and forcing people to buy them. Can you really blame Blizzard for making a hugely successful game anyway? (I'm not a WoW player and generally dislike MMO's)

With all the people racing for max level, difficulty clears, I can guarantee you will see some very good items selling for ridiculous prices early in the game. I know that because an X guildie (Kripparrian) will be doing this along with big names like Athene These item advantages could make a difference between achieving their goals or failing.

This will make selling virtual items easy and you don't have to worry about getting banned or bot accounts closed. Ive made a good amount of money of WoW and having a D2 Item store back in the day, I think the 15% cut isn't bad since you are going to be playing the game regardless, getting some return off it isn't bad at all..

Hi, I'm KhaoticKomputing I am a PVP addict.

Cash op destroy's what I love so much about PVP. It no longer become's a test of skill and knowledge of the game and your toon. Instead someone can just drop cash on the latest of uber epic gear, And believe me people will. There are ton's of game's where this is painfully in effect. The most recent I played was Forsaken World( free to play MMO with a cash op system). While this is a NBD for some people I was an avid PVP player back when Diablo II hit and loved it untill the hacking/dupped item's got out of hand(stupid SOJ's) but I don't blame blizzard for that one. When I was a WoW player(years ago) I was also an avid PVP player but left that game for other reasons that don't belong here. Just saying, with Cash Op they have killed the game for me. However I can see how it won't even phase some people.

Add in the fact that I feel they have sold out. I mean they havn't had a new title in how many years? they keep rehashing old game's... I'l wait for their new title to hit. I feel I'm sitting out on Diablo III.

Lol. And people didn't buy items for pvp in D2 did they? rolleyes.gif

Pvp isn't competitive in Diablo, it never has been. Maybe these games just aren't for you.

What you don't seem to realize is that people will be able to drop cash for items wither blizzard wants them to or not.

http://lewt.com

There's tons of sites just like that where you can buy diablo II items. There is no stopping it, so whats wrong with some of that money going to players, and a little bit going to blizz? It also ensures blizzard pays more attention to the economy, since they have a stake in it.

I literally can not see a single downside, since all the downsides would exist in illegitimate third party sites either way.
