Ducky shining - switch problem (Mx brown). How to disassemble??

I am having an odd error with my Ducking Shining MX Cherry Browns. The switch kind of "clicks" forward when you apply horizontal forward pressure on the keycap. The switch does not actually activate, but the key does move. When you take the keycap off, it still happens, so the problem is with the switch, not the keycap. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't seem to get the switch popped out of the keyboard, and I'm too scared of breaking it to press much harder. If I can't actually fix the switch, I would like to just exchange it for a lesser used key on the board, such as "End" as the key still works, I just don't want it to be on a letter that i use frequently. I have included a video to show what I'm talking about. If anyone knows how to take apart a ducky shining, that would help me out greatly, as I am technically inclined enough to take it from there. Thanks.

Perhaps you should also post this at Geekhack.org... Think there are more keyboard fanatics over there:)

the bottom of this thread was my problem, and it is now fixed. Thank you very much, Ripster.

However, I don't know that this means you're the #1 expert... ;P

Hi there, do not just pull the switch off without disassembling the keyboard. It would make it harder to de-solder the faulty switch if you do so.
To disassemble the Ducky shining, unplug the USB and flip the keyboard around (to the side without keys). Unscrew the 3 screws holding the keyboard and the shelling together. Then insert a thin plastic card (i.e. expired credit card) into the space around the edge. There are 6 tabs around the edge (3 on each length side). Try to "un-tab" them, and the shelling will come off. (Be very gentle, and when trying to "un-tab" apply slight force to help it). When the shelling comes off, unscrew the two black screw holding the keyboard down, and then unplug the USB connector on the back of the keyboard. Now you can de-solder the faulty switch and fit a new one on!

I had a similar situation as you awhile back, as I had to de-solder 2 of my faulty switches.

If you are not very good at soldering do not try this, or ask someone who has experience with soldering to help you out!

Here's a picture version of what I just said, it's in Chinese but I'm sure you can understand what he is doing just by looking at the pictures and refer to my crappy explanation above biggrin.gif
