Removing a 230mm fan from case. Help please :)

Thread Starter
So I need to mount a Radiator, and I need to remove my 230mm fan, but I don't know what kind of screwdriver will remove it? It's a weird type I've never seen before.

I need help identifying it, I have some pictures trying to show it best I can, so please help! Thanks in advance.

can't tell if its a hex or rivet. Hex is easy, Rivets need to be drilled out.

That is a screw with an allen tip, also known as hex key screws.

You need allen wrenches (hex keys) to unscrew that. You can get those at home depot. The problem is, they are like wrenches and come in both US and metric sizes. Which size will fit i don't know because it's screw specific. I'm guessing it might be metric, since a lot of stuff is made over seas where they use metric measurements. Allen wrenches are common, so it shouldn't be to hard to find a set.

Yea, it looked like there were def. 6 sides inside... but I wasn't 100% sure as it also looked rounded inside... Hex it is, which is easy peasy.

Is it from the HAF-X? I can't think of many other cases with 230mm fans. But anyway on topic I agree with Buska103, it looks like you need an Allen key.

Sorry for double post, but the size is kinda pointless. You can find both types at a Dollar Store 99% of the time smile.gif Plus sets even at hardware stores are super cheap. I like to have a few sets around the house all the time smile.gif

Edit: Depending on the quality/size, you can sometimes use robertson (Square), Torx, or even flatheads. But if they are tight you can easily strip them so be careful. Like I said, they are so cheap, its good to have anyway.

Its the HAF 932. And I found something to unscrew it with, and you guys were right, it was an Allen Key. Thanks!

NP. But I find it funny when people call them Allen Keys heh. I dunno, all my life I've called them Hex. Or as the gf says, the stop sign looking ones, along with flower, cross, square and... well she knows flathead.

You should post pics of the rad installed and keep us posted though. I'm curious now.

Edit> And what kinda setup you using? AIO or custom loop?
