New build - Sandy or Ivy?

Thread Starter
I've been a AMD user but looking at upgrading my computer and decided to go with Intel. I'm debating between the i5-2500k and the i5-3570k. right now a store by me has a deal where if you get the new i5 you get the motherboard cheaper so their just about the same price. so which should i go with? should i wait a little while and the 2500k will drop? any thoughts appreciated

Ivy of course. If you have the deal with Ivy then get it. It's better than Sandy.

For someone planning a new build, Ivy bridge is the way to go! It is 5 - 10% faster but does not overclock as well! Anyway, Sandy bridge regular platform will be end-of -life- very soon!

Ivy is better just for pcie 3.0. Unless you can get sandy for a significantly lower price I would go with ivy.

Socket 2011 x79 is still the enthusiast plat form. 2011 also has more bandwidth.

If your OC'n I would have to say SB, since it OC's better at cooler temps. From my understanding IB only gets you less watts. I could be wrong.

People have a misconception that because Ivy runs at hotter temps, it is worse for OCing...however it was designed to run hotter, so its fine if you OC and its running at higher temps than Sandy. It was simply designed that way.
