too be fair, why would it be a good idea to make PC's as ungaming friendly as possible when that is PC's ONLY thing it has over tablets, smartphones, etc? It's like some PC vendors want to kill the only thing that makes PC's unique at this point. If they don't have gaming anymore, than an iOS or Android device are good enough.

This "good enough" mentality really just makes PC's some consumer product that has no appeal anymore due to tablets and all the other ARM and mobile devices out there.

OCN is where it seems more users have higher end discrete graphics cards. I would surmise that most PC gamers barely have graphics cards that can run Dota2 or LoL.

Intel HD 4000 series iGPUs can drive 3 displays. Most people do not need more displays than that unless they work in financials/trading.

If the integrated graphics can handle modern games I'm all for the change. It hasn't happened yet and it doesn't seem likely in the next few years.

All we know for sure is it seems like DD sales are good and retail sales have decreased more then 50% in the last couple years. Reality is that discrete GPU sales probabally are dropping especially if analalysts who are privy to this info are saying it.
Again I'm not calling doom and gloom or anything like that all I'm saying is to think that iGPU sales aren't going to eat into the discrete market is not being realistic.

In 2011, PC gaming revenue was up 18% over last year.

You mean in terms of performance as Intel had an APU a full year before AMD did. The current HD4k is ~30% behind the best Llano part so the gap isn't as significant as it was three years ago where Intel didn't have a part that was within 30% of AMD graphics, now they do. You can play all the latest games on high settings, good frame rates, at HD resolution.

Intel had an APU on the market at most 6 months before AMD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Bridge#List_of_Sandy_Bridge_processors
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Fusion#Current_platforms (Jan 4, 2011 was a paper launch, but launch regardless)

But we already went over this, HD 3000 has terrible image quality, particularly in terms of texture.

I don't mean to pick on you but it seems to me like the report uses a lot of guesswork. No DD service releases sales figures so it's literally all estimates. The retail market we know is in huge decline(but still makes up the majority of sales). I was thinking more NA/Europe anyway since F2P MMOs in China that generate huge amounts of cash I don't think are what most people think of when they think PC gaming. Still though I get your point. My point though is that we have big publishers moving out of the PC space (Ubisoft) and have had numerous devs/pubs say that AAA PC game sales now make up a miniscule part of their playerbase.

Mainly what I'm saying is this. More cash may be spent on PC gaming as whole now then in 2005. But as a guy who likes to play big AAA games gaming is not as good now as it was then. In 2005 Epic, Id, Valve Bioware etc etc were all PC exclusive. Epic doesn't even make PC games anymore. I certainly prefered the development scene then to what it is now. I think honestly that MMO and F2P revenue really props those numbers up. In fact I know it props the numbers up I just don't know how much.
