New build. Out of the loop with desktops. Is this any good?

So, I've been desktopless for 2 years now, only relying on cheap laptops. I have $1000 for a complete build, and I've picked

And a 20" Asus monitor, Sony DVD burner, Windows 7 H.P OEM, cheap keyboard, and a Coolermaster HAL 912 case. Also has 8gb of DDR3 ram (included in the GPU bundle).

I'll be playing: WoW, Minecraft, Diablo 3, SC2, LA Noir, Dragon Age 2, Witcher 2, Grid, Need for speed shift 2, and the GW2 beta.

Let me know if it's any good please, thanks!

It'll do you well no doubt, but I'm sure we can do a little better for the price.

Where do you live? Have you purchased anything yet?

I live in Chicago, and No, haven't purchased anything. I'd like to order from Amazon or Newegg so I can avoid paying tax (has to be figured into the total) Also needs to include a screen, keyboard, and Win 7. (Already have a gaming mouse)

When are you ordering? If it's within a couple of days, I'll use as many deals as possible.

I've tried and tried, but just can't fit in the upgrades that I want with your budget - it's stuck in a middle-ground-like purgatory of component prices (lol).

Anyways, here's what I've put together:

CPU/Mobo (Better motherboard that will allow for higher overclock)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.912418

PSU - $15 off w/ promo code EMCNFHD28
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016

Monitor:

HDD - $20 off w/ promo code EMCNFHD23
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

That GPU/RAM deal you found is unbeatable, and I use my words very literally. Ideally you would want 2gb of RAM on a GPU these days, but in that price bracket you don't have a chance (at the same performance level).

Due to needing Windows and peripherals, your budget is stretched too thin to get better than this. Therefore I suggest investing well in your platform - get a decent motherboard, nice enough case, strong PSU and your 2500k with a cooler. You can upgrade GPU, RAM and HDD's as needed when the time comes, and what you've chosen now will undoubtedly get you through the list of games you wanted at max or near max graphics perfectly.

Sorry i can't be more help, but you'd really done all the leg work already biggrin.gif

Here's every part I had picked. I forgot to mention I was taking the 120gb SSD and 750gb (7200rpm) Drive out of my current laptop and using it for storage.

I've built all of my desktops since I was 13 (22 now) so I usually know what to pick, I just wasn't sure anymore. the last desktop I had I was still using an AMD II X2 240 and 4gb of DDR2 ram with an HD4650 gpu.

It's going to be nice getting more than 30fps on low in WoW, and 6fps in Minecraft. Hell I have ~170 games on Steam now, can hardly play a single one of them!

That is a regular GTX 560, not a 560 Ti. Just be warned.
