Got my first mechanical keyboard today.

I got my Ducky Shine Brown (white LED) in today. Was not sure what to expect, but so far I like it.

I have been using a Logitech MX3200 keyboard for about 5 years now. Never had any issues with it and liked the way it felt and typed. My only gripe is that it did not have a back light, and since I type at night a lot (and am an occasional key looker) I wanted a backlit keyboard. I won this keyboard for being a sherpa here so figured I would give it a try.

Pros so far are I like the backlight. The entire keyboard seems very solid. I was surprised how heavy this thing is (about 2.5 lbs). I am also surprised that the keys feel is very similar to the Logitech that I have.
I got the brown because many say that is the best to start with. I know I did not want the blue, I did not want a lot of noise since I type at night and my wife would kill me with the clicking of the blues. The browns are a little louder that I had hoped, but not too bad overall. If I lighten my touch a little they are quieter (maybe I need to do the o-ring mod?). If anyone had clear switches, that might be more of what I want, but the browns seem pretty good.
Most of my keyboarding is typing, with occasional gaming. My typos are a little higher than with the Logitech, but that is because of a different keyboard height (Ducky is a little higher) and a slight spacing difference of the keys. My fat fingers are hitting keys they normally did not. None of those are really cons.

My biggest dislike is it is wired, but I knew that going in. I just like wireless keyboards better, less clutter.

The only real con so far is I used the green colored WASD keys and the back light bleeds through even on low (on high, they are a bright green glow).
I also don't like how the 1x key (what is it even for?) is always lit at max brightness, as is the NumLk key.
Also the "pulse" mode for the LED is kind of pointless IMO.

Overall I like it, but not positive that I will keep it (I giving it a month to be sure).
I personally do not see what the big deal is about them, I like my Logitech just as well (and cost me like $50 for the keyboard and mouse combo) so I know I would personally have a hard time justifying spending $145 for this keyboard.

Glad to hear it smile.gif I too love my ducky shine with green LEDs and cherry browns. The 1x,2x,3x, and 4x are the repeat rate. You need to use the ps/2 adapter they gave you to use this. These keys are useless 99.99% of the time.

Thinking about getting a mechanical keyboard soon. Not liking my lycosa at all at the moment. Keys are starting to feel sticky and macros are limited to only few keys. Not to mention the terrible anti-ghosting or lack there of. The amount of times i die in a jet because I'm pressing to many keys on BF3, which i think is unacceptable for a gaming keyboard. (I fly with the keyboard only).

Not a fan of those green buttons (WASD). Would look better if they only made the LEDs green behind them. Otherwise it looks quite smart. biggrin.gif

Ah, OK. I just plugged it in to the USB since my computer was on already. I was planning on using the ps/2 adapter whenever I shut down next.

Yea, seems some had gotten lavander WASD keys, not sure if I would like those any better. I think a dark blue would suit me best. I am sure you could get some colored LED's and replace them if you really wanted.
I keep looking at the green keys thinking "maybe if I spray painted the inside black"....
