Is Arctic Silver 5 still good - Page 5

At the end of the day, all pastes will essentially do the same thing. TIM debates will always revolve around charts and personal experience and you will never get one solid anaswer smile.gif

If you have AS5, by all means use it.

My advice to you, moving forward, is try some of the TIMs mentioned in this thread and see which ones suit your setup. Since this will not be the only time you will be reseating a CPU or GPU, you will have an opportunity to try most of them, eventually.

Not only is AS5 good, it is one of the best, even better than MX-2. As you can see on the chart, it gets an A+ rating, while MX-2 gets A-. (bottom is better, top is worse, cause of how it's ranked by heat). Of course, it has a 200 hour curing time, so keep that in mind.

Let's not forget you just linked us to chart from June 2009.

AS5 had it's time. There are many better TIM's on the market today.

Even though it's from June 2009 it mentions most of the TIMs referred to here. Even if newer, better ones are out there, AS5 would still be among the top competetors, as it was top of the field a few years ago and TIM development doesn't move very fast.

Still, if you have newer, better ones that you can think of, let me know, and I'll find some benchmarks.
