Possible upgrade?

Thread Starter
Hello, I currently own an i7 950 running at 3.6 - 1.28v, producing quite a bit of heat. 40 idle 70 load

I mainly use the rig for photoshop and MMORPG, considering that I plan on playing future MMOs (GW2, B&S, etc) I was wondering if I would benefit from an upgrade, and if so, to what?

I have a GTX 680 running 2560x1440

You will never see below mid 30's for idling and your load temps are good. You would notice faster loading times(?), but other than that you wouldn't notice much.

MMO's tend to be really cpu IPC intensive in crowded areas and on busy servers, the best upgrade you could probably get is a 2500k/2600k/3570k/3770k, but then again your current cpu might handle those games fine. what are you using for cooling? you could perhaps get a better cooler and overclock it to 4-4.2?

I've played countless MMOs on my i7 960 @ 4GHz. My CPU was never near maxed.

well judging by the fact he has a gtx680, i doubt that is being a bottleneck whatsoever. he might just not have any performance issues though, best would be to wait for the games and judge than.
also the fact that your cpu isnt maxed doesnt mean it isnt bottlenecking, they might just run on less than 4 threads. i doubt this will really be the case with GW2 and B&S though...
