If you want a better deal you can try eBay. I bought my HD7970 for 350 euro there.

I'm facing the same dilemna! Wouldnt be an issue if there wasnt such a price difference.
What would you guys say looking at these two?

WHY SO HARD!

I have the exact same issue, but i'm looking at the sapphire reference card to watercool.

Is the 680 with reference cooler better then a reference watercooled 7970? :s

Most people seem to think that once they are OC'd they're almost on par with each other. But that price difference is pulling me to AMD..

Hmmm well it comes down to want you need out of it, will you be doing anything else other than gaming? Such as Folding/Bionic? If just gaming hands down 7970, better price, plus a game right now. If you fold definitely Nvidia. I used to actually be such a Nvidia fanboy it was ridiculous, this Gen from AMD convinced me to switch. Also IMO AMD has better IQ and AA than Nvidia. Nvidia is about pure speed with a tiny IQ hit. AMD is about pure IQ with a little bit of a speed hit. This is just my personal opinion, my friends can barely see a difference, but they don't game for 3+ hours a day.

Yes. But so does nvidia, just seems to be a lot less on the green side.

I hear 12.4 makes things a lot better for single cards, crossfire is still terrible though.

Nope 12.4 whql has been great so far single card here though, some people are having problems using 3rd-party apps to OC though which is causing instability in certain games, such as Crysis 2. I just use Catalyst Control Center to OC now and no problems, however it is limited to 1125 mhz on core and 1500 mhz on memory in CCC. Hence why people are using 3rd party apps to OC. Also all 7970's have voltage control of both Core and Memory, something the 680 is severely lacking right now.
