Power target, Voltage and fan control are unlocked. It's restricted to 132%, 1175mV and 85% fan speed in the EVGA version.
And: Why is SYNC on, if it's a single GPU?
Or is it the CPU overclock which drives the GPU core clock higher?
I wonder why an offset of 123% makes 1442MHz.
My GTX680 is 1260 MHz with 175% gpu clock and 510% mem clock.
The numbers should be explained by Kingpin.
The temp is no prob even if higher clocks are applied. Mine is @ 30°C with occ profil as long as there is no load.

There's nothing to explain. HE is not using a reference board, he modded the crap out of it with a special air cooler and he soldered a different VRM on and other goodies.

31C at load? You do the math.

Nope. Stock reference cooler. I was there.

However, how many would do a "Mod to end all Mods even if it was made public."

{News} Reporter..."And today several OCN members received scathing soldering iron burns to their fingers as they tried to mod their new GTX 680 cards. News at 11... rolleyes.gif

[edit] Yes it would be worth it in SLI drool.gif

Well the card was certainly modded in order to get the voltage up. I'd believe the temp at idle though easily. No way it was running 31 degrees at load.

You underestimate Kingpin's magic. wink.gif

All I'm saying is that voltage is locked on 680s and something was changed. Whether it was hardware or not I do not know. If you'd like to spill the beans though that'd be great!

...Unless your implying this was done with stock volts in which case he must have had a platinum chip. Err nevermind is says right there in precision the voltage is higher then 1.175. So yeah hardware or EVGA has a sweet bios no one else does.

Nah, if we told then everyone else would do it. Then one of our competitors might get 1444MHz or some marginal improvement like that and get all the free marketing for having the "fastest air-cooled 680" without doing the hard work we did of figuring it out.

So it'll stay secret for now, until someone else leaks it.

I will say it's not something most people can do at home. There's some magic involved.

He says on his website other manufacturers are 'zorching' (scorching?) Nvidia about EVGA's bios? That's my guess then if I read it right.

I understand though I'd imagine if it was leaked out how to unlock voltage control that clock would actually be beaten fairly easily. I'd imagine there are a lot of 680 users that would love a crack at it anyway.

Aaaaaand... WHO CARES!!! That's great! Call me when he decides to share, instead of hoarding the information probably given to him by EVGA themselves to accomplish this. So glad he gives to the community that keeps this business afloat. Pffft!!thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif
