[VC] Kingpin Reaches 1442 MHz with GeForce GTX 680 on Air - Page 6

All it took was aftermarket cards, or an unlocked bios and there went the voltage limits.
Companies just want to protect users from themselves.

It'd different with the 680 then the 580 though. It's not just a voltage limit you can't change the voltage at all. All you can do is force a constant 1.175. All the aftermarket cards so far have had the same limit but I think I saw a story about a Zotac card of all things that is going to change it.

Anyway though this is the reason why the 7970 keeps up so well with those max OC tests. If Nvidia hadn't done it the 680 would have blown it away as you can see right here with what the kingpin guy did.

I don't doubt that you guys were able to do it without the add-on board. In fact I'm almost positive you just figured out a way to increase volts through the bios.
In fact that's the only way you could have done it without an add-on power board. We already know you increased the voltage because it says so right there in the screenshot. 1.212 was what was used to hit that speed.

I have my doubts as well but I've never known Phaedrus to lie yet. And I'm inclined to believe what the man says.

So the 680 is voltage locked? Are EVGA and others going to release cards where we can change the voltage?
