For Sale:
Barebones Coreduo laptop

Will Ship To: US50

Made by MPC (no longer in business, bought out by gateway)
I use one exactly like this as my DD and it's quite quick. It plays many games easily, I play cod4 on it occasionally. These laptops can be made to run for under $200.

Model number: Transport T2400
CPU: 2.0ghz Core Duo T2500
GPU: Mobile Radeon x1600pro
Screen size: 15.4in 1280x800

Barebones, so no battery, powercord, ram, hd, or ram cover. Does come with the hd cover and dvd burner. Takes ddr2 memory and sata hard drives. I have also not gotten windows 7 sound drivers to work, but I might be stupid thumb.gif Linux and XP drivers work flawlessly.

I'll add some pics of my own if somebody anybody interested.

I have 2, so its $75each shipped.

ACTIVE FOLDERS GET 25% OFF! $57 shipped for an active folder for OCN.

These laptops will hold a Maximum of 2GB of DDR2 667MHz. So I did a little serching:
Hynix 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300 Laptop Memory RAM DDR2 667MHz - $15.99 shipped

There ya go people. I did most if not all the leg work for you. If you are a folder and are going to get one of these it looks like you will spend about $150 for a great little laptop. Sure it won't play BF3. But it will be decent enough to watch videos and do general everyday web browsing.

Here's a review from when they were first release:
Quote:
MPC's TransPort T2400 series of portable computers features thin-and-light laptops that don't compromise on performance. Armed with an Intel Core Duo CPU that features twin processors on a single chip, these portable computers offer desktop-replacement power in a package that is svelte and light enough to be carried almost anywhere.

You have a choice of starting processor on these portable computers: a 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo T2300 or, for $200 over baseline, a 2.0GHz Core Duo T2500. Both processors feature a 2MB cache and a speedy 667MHz front-side bus for high-speed transfer of data between the processor and the motherboard.

The system memory on these portable computers offers a mixed bag. On the plus side, it's extremely fast 667MHz DDR2 memory. But on the negative side, MPC only includes 256MB of it at the default price. That's just not enough for a Windows XP system, so you'll want to beef the RAM up to at least 512MB which adds close to $69 to the price of the T2400. These portable computers will support up to 2GB of memory, so you can expand the RAM more later as well.

Graphically, these portable computers are cutting edge. There's an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics processor inside with 128MB of dedicated video memory. This will make them great laptops for gaming or for editing images and video.

The hard drive isn't as cutting edge. MPC starts these portable computers off with a 40GB 5,400rpm hard drive. It's an adequate amount of storage for most users, but if you need more space, you can increase the hard drive size, speed, or both. For around $150, for example, you can opt for a 100GB 5,400rpm drive or an 80GB 7,200rpm drive.

Even though these are thin-and-light portable computers, they're two-spindle laptops so you get an optical drive as well as a hard drive. The default drive is a combination DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive that will play DVD movies as well as burn audio and data CDs. MPC offers an upgrade to a DVD writer for under $80, letting you burn your own DVDs and make backups to DVD-RW or DVD-RAM disks.

The 15.4-inch widescreen LCD is a nice find on a thin-and-light portable computer, giving you a large screen for watching video or have multiple applications tiered in open windows. Even with two drives and a larger screen, these portable computers weigh in at only around 5.5 pounds, making them easy to carry from place to place.

MPC includes some nice extras on the T2400 line that would appeal to a professional user. There's an integrated biometric fingerprint scanner, so you can add an additional layer of security to your login process if you have sensitive data on your portable computer. They've also integrated Bluetooth technology into these laptops, so you'll be able to synch up to your Bluetooth PDA, cell phone, or other compatible devices without wires.

The built-in gigabit Ethernet supports high-speed networks and also incorporates Intel's Active Management Technology which allows network administrators to remotely manage these portable computers if they're hooked up to a corporate network. There's also a built-in modem and an 802.11a/b/g wireless card so you'll be able to connect to the Internet in a variety of ways.

There's no floppy drive on these T2400s, but that's becoming a fairly common omission on portable computers. MPC does include a handy 5-in-1 media card reader that lets you transfer files and photos from your PDA, digital camera, or other flash memory device to your portable computer easily.

There is a good selection of connectivity ports on these portable computers, including three USB 2.0 ports and a Firewire port for hooking up high-speed peripherals. There's also an S-video output port for connecting to a compatible television, and a docking station connector. The optional docking station (available for around $120) offers even more connectivity ports and makes an excellent base station at the office.

Yup, I can play and of the Call of Dutys on it, haven't really tried anything else as I've had no need. I believe you can get the battery cheaper on buy.com but I'm not positive. Thank's for posting Erick thumb.gif

What CPUs can this be upgraded too?

Socket M laptop cpus. This laptop supports all Core Duo cpus and possibly the the Core 2 Duo cpus. But as I said, the T2500 @2.0ghz is already one of the fastest possible cpus you can install. You could get a T2600 @2.16, or a T2700 @2.33. C2D doesn't offer much of a performance upgrade and is pretty much the same speed clock for clock. C2D cpus go up to 2.33 also.
