I'm going to start looking into the I/O voltage to see what the max is and see if bumping it slightly has any effect on stability.
*edit* Forgot to mention temps are at 65

Have you tried my methods above from the screenshots? It hits 4.7ghz easily and those temps are pretty high as well.

So I guess I was premature about being stable at 4.8 had to bump up volts to 1.51 in bios which loads at ~1.47. 77 on temps. Can anyone tell me if 1.52 is max in bios for volts or max for load volts? Also how can I set my idle volts to be lower? I believe it has something to do with C state and speedstep but this is my first intel rig.

Temps are not high? It doesn't start to throttle till 90 and max is 105. I still have 30 degrees till the processor shut down. Before I did my delid I would be in the 90s right now. I have tried messing with bclk, multiplier, voltage, and PLL. My chip is just what it is. Leaks a little bit higher I'm assuming. The load control on this motherboard is not impressing me compared to others to be honest =[. I BSOD with lower voltage and according to the cheat table it requires more volts. I add volts and it starts to stablize.

Your temps compared to a 4.5Ghz overclock are very high given you are only a few 100Mhz above that and yes, you do have a good 30degrees left on the TJMAX. However that is still not a healthy way of overclocking your board is basically what I'm trying to say. smile.gif

One other thing I did notice between the p67 gd65 & z77 gd65 was the failed OC recovery, when I would OC the memory too far on the p67 it would get into a boot loop without recovering, requiring clearing cmos, pulling battery & memory, fun stuff. The z77 does do the 3 attempts & then restart with failed OC & let me back into the bios to change things. They may have fixed it with a bios update but that was the main thing I disliked about the p67 gd65.

Ironically enough, the looks and layout of the board are some of the main reasons I was thinking of side-grading. The fact that it lets me experience Ivy Bridge if I choose to in the future, as well as PCIe 3.0 are just bonuses. smile.gif

You do see what voltage Im at compared to yours right? And yes my processor requires this much for 48 multiplier. Anything less it crashes either on start of prime95 or a little in. Unless SA voltage or I/O voltage can stablize it at a lower core voltage, I'm stuck. No one has mentioned the max for either of those though because it messes with more than just the cores. I tried your template and it crashed even at multiplier 45. I would love to overclock that way though because it would put less stress on the processor. Unforunately I seem to have a processor thats leaking.

*edit* Can anyone tell me what rounding errors mean in Prime95? I'm assuming its memory related rather than core related.

My vcore is 1.29v at 4.5Ghz and your at 1.51v running 300hz higher, clearly has to be something wrong in the way your overclocking your CPU / configuring your motherboard.

Anyway good luck, but keep the voltage down smile.gif

I'm not trying to be hostile even though I'm sounding like it. I'm so effing frustrated that my temps are still good but I have hit a wall. I have read that after a certain point Ivy Bridge requires a massive volt dump. Which is what I am seeing right now. If someone can point out something that I am missing I would GLADLY accept my fault. With vdroop control at 100% I load at .032 difference from my setting in bios. I idle at .016 difference. PLL doesn't seem to be helping me at all as I have been all over the spectrum.

Your all good... no stress.

Ask my brother over at Vortez, he owns the site/company and has reviewed this board - I believe he hit 5Ghz and I know its his persona board too, perhaps PM him and tell him i sent you... his name is Mishima
